African American Wax Museum

Alice Austen House Museum

Located in New Hyde Park (Long Island) the American Guitar Museum is located conveniently off the Long Island Expressway.


American Irish Historical Society
Dedicated to preserving Irish American heritage and history, the American Irish Historical Society is located on Fifth Avenue and 80th Street.


American Museum of Natural History
Since opening to the public in 1869, the museum has evolved and grown. In addition to the Rose Center planetarium and regular exhibits, the museum hosts a revolving series of new exhibits, so there is always something new to see.


American Museum of the Moving Image
The American Museum of the Moving Image focuses on film, television and digital media, and its impact on culture and society. Located in Astoria, Queens, the museum is easily accessible from the subway and is only a short ride from Manhattan.


American Numismatic Society
Are you interested in coin collections? The American Numismatic Society focuses on the study and appreciation of coins, medals and related objects. You can see their diverse collections and offerings on Broadway and 155th Street.


Asia Society
Upper East side museum dedicated to educating the public about Asia through exhibitions, performances and lectures.

Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum
This National Historic Landmark was built between 1836 and 1842 and is located in Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx. The museum highlights the history and family of Robert Bartow, a publisher and descendant of Thomas Pell.

Brooklyn Children's Museum

Brooklyn Historical Society

Brooklyn Museum of Art

Bronx Museum of the Arts

Castle Clinton National Monument
Built to defend New York Harbor in the War of 1812, Castle Clinton forms the centerpiece of Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan. At this National Monument visitors can enjoy learning about the history of New York.


Children's Museum of the Arts
Visual and performing arts museum targeting 1 - 12 year old kids. Lots of interactive activities at this downtown Manhattan museum.


Children's Museum of the Native American
Located on West 155th Street, children have the opportunity to learn about Native American culture in this friendly museum. Puppet shows, singing, dancing, and sign language are among the museum's highlights.


China Institute
This Upper East Side institution is dedicated to preservation and education of Chinese civilization and culture. They offer art exhibits, language classes, children's programs and training for educators.


The Cloisters
This uptown branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art dedicated to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. 


Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum
This is the only US museum exclusively dedicated to historic and contemporary design. Explore the nature and impact of design on our lives here.


Czech Center New York
Non-profit organization focused on organizing cultural events and programs that promote understanding of the Czech Republic. Located in Midtown Manhattan.

Dahesh Museum of Art
Located on Madison Avenue in the mid-50's, the Dahesh Museum of Art focuses on collecting and exhibiting 19th- and early 20th-century European academic art.


Dia Center for the Arts
Dia's warehouse space on West 22nd Street is principally dedicated to large-scale, single-artist projects. Also sponsors lectures, poetry readings and a video salon.


Dyckman Farmhouse Museum
This New York City Landmark was once the center of the thriving Dyckman Farm. Located on Broadway and 204th Street, it offers visitors the opportunity to experience this 18th century farmhouse through tours, crafts and other activities.

El Museo del Barrio
Opened in 1969, this Latino museum dedicated to Puerto Rican, Caribbean and Latin American art, culture and heritage, offers programs in both Spanish and English.

Federal Hall National Memorial
Federal Hall National Memorial was the site of the first national capital of the United States under the Constitution.


Fraunces Tavern Museum
Housed in a meeting place of American Revolutionary leaders, its permanent collection contains important early American prints, paintings, decorative arts and artifacts dating from the Colonial period to the mid-19th-century.


Forbes Magazine Galleries

Ground Zero Museum Workshop

Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum
Located in Queens, just a short distance from the MOMAQNS, this museum is a memorial to the life & work of Isamu Noguchi. In its temporary location (while renovations are completed on the main location) there is no sculpture garden.

The Jewish Museum

Judaica Museum

This Queens museum involves and educates children and adults in local and national history through the home of Rufus King, who was important in the U.S. Constitution and reknowned for his anti-slavery stance.


Kurdish Library and Museum
Unique museum houses kilims and other weavings and artifacts from Turkey, Iraq and Iran as well as mannequins in traditional dress; men's hand loomed pantaloons, jackets and headgear; women's wildly colorful chiffon and brocade dresses, accessories and artifacts. Museum at Eldridge Street Synagogue
Opened in 1887, the historic Eldridge Street Synagogue was the first great house of worship built in America by East European Jews. Religious services are no longer held at the Eldridge Street Synagogue.

Housing one of the largest public collections of 19th & 20th century American art, the museum's collection represents a diverse array of styles and schools of thought. The National Academy of Design is located on Museum Mile on Fifth Avenue and 89th Street.


National Museum of the American Indian

The New York branch of this museum is located in the George Gustav Heye Center in lower Manhattan. The museum is host to an extensive collection of artifacts.


New Museum of Contemporary Art

New York City Fire Museum

New York City Police Museum

New York Hall of Science
With over 225 exhibits, the New York Hall of Science is New Yorks only hands-on science and technology center. Located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, it is easily accessible by car or train.

The Noble Maritime Collection
This Staten Island Museum contains exhibits illustrating the history of New York, a restored houseboat studio, educational programs, and a printmaking studio. They also have a wealth of information about and the collections of maritime artist John H. Noble.

P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center
In Long Island City, this museum is dedicated to showcasing new and exciting art from contemporary artists. They host a variety of exhibits and events throughout the year, including summer dances & movies.


The Paley Center for Media
Located on 52nd Street between 5th & 6th Avenues, The Paley Center for Media (formerly the Musuem of Television & Radio) is dedicated to collecting and preserving television and radio programs. Check out the schedules for exhibitions, screenings and more on their website.

Queens County Farm Museum
The last working historical farm in New York City, the museum hosts public events, offers self guided walking tours and sells produce at its farmstand. It is easily accessible by public transportation.


Queens Museum of Art
This Flushing, Queens museum offers drop-in art workshops as well as an extensive permanent collection and revolving exhibits. The museum is housed in the New York City Building, the only major structure remaining from the 1939/40 and 1964/65 New York World's Fairs.
